| The Fable Of The Ducks And Hensby George Lincoln RockwellMany, many years ago, When animals could speak. A wondrous thing the ducks befell, Their tale is quite unique. Down by a pond dwelt all these ducks, Ten thousand at the least. Their duckish joys were undisturbed By any man or any beast. One day down near the entrance gate, There was an awful din. A hundred hens all out of breath Were begging to come in. Oh let us in! these poor birds cried, Before we do expire! Tis only by the merest inch That we escaped the fire! Their feathers burned, their combs a droop, They were the saddest sight. They’d run a hundred miles or more, All day and then all night. Come, come in! the ducks all quacked, For you our hearts do bleed! We’ll share our happy lot with you, Just tell us what you need! And so these poor bedraggled hens Amongst the ducks moved in. For, after all, the ducks declared, We’re sisters ‘neath the skin. Before too many months had passed, The hens were good as new. They sent for all their rooster friends, And these were welcomed too. | So i was hanging out w/ my brother, watching him play some mario bros game on the gamecube while i played mario 64 on the DS, (yes, we are dorks and it is delightful) and he says 'hey, check this out...'
he's riding a turtle shell over some water into the endless horizon, when suddenly, he hits an imaginary wall. we bust out laughing.
j- it's like a bird flying into a window
d- yeah....have you ever seen one fly into a mirror?
j- hahaha, no?! what, does it think it's playing chicken?
d- hahaha, i don't know, maybe.
j- what if a chicken does it...
d- but chickens can't fly--
-- flashback to a 6 year old me spending a summer in DR (that's the dominican republic, for those "in the know"). my family owned farm animals, but i wouldn't quite call it a farm.
anyway, i used to chase the ducklings around and try to catch them in a box, but they always managed to get away. finally, my grandmother felt bad for me and gave me my own chickadee, as a pet. i loved it.
one fateful afternoon, i decided this chicky was old enough for freedom.::sigh:: so i grabbed it by it's little chicky wings and threw it high up into the air, fully expecting it to fly, btw. as you can imagine, it did...

| One thing I'll never understand is how people actually eat almost fully formed chicks and ducklings which are still in their eggs. And I mean complete with little feathers and eyeballs. Everytime I see people eating that on TV I always feel like puking....*shudders*
O wells, how about you guys, what are some of the weirdest food you've seen or eaten before?:D

| My friend has pet ducks (as you can see the ducklings from the photo here of Arthur and Martha (yes, he is gay haha)). They are only ducklings in the picture, but they are fully grown now, and I think they live with his parents because he no longer desires to have duck poop in his new house and garden haha.I find it strange that someone would want ducks for pets, but I guess that Friends (Joey and Chandler) are a bit responsible for this little phenonema. I have a few friends that now have chicks or ducks as friends, but they don't realise that they grow up to be bick ducks and big chickens with responsibility attached to them! They are not the cleanest of animals, and are virtually impossible to make house clean! haha. What are the strangest things your friends (or even you!) have as pets. I ain't saying that ducks are that strange, but I am sure some of you you know people with stranger tastes.. hehe.Have fun with this one, it ain't meant to be serious by the way! haha. | |

| Wut 1st occurs to ur mind when 1 says "to waddle"? Usually: waddling ducklings following their mothers.Ducks hav 2 techniques they use to feed themselves. While swimmin, without plunging underwater, some of them feed on insects and plants. U often see them searchin for food, wif their head & half of their bodies underwater. Some kinda ducks, on the other hand, search for food by diving underwater but r not good for walkin on land. That is why they only leave the water occasionally, except in the breeding season.Water fowl such as ducks hav air in their bodies. This is one of the reasons they float on the surface of the water. In the duck's body, there exist air sacs that look like tine balloons. When these sacs r filled wif air, they help the duck to float. When the duck wants to dive, it pumps the air out of the sacs & readily dives under the water since less air remains in its body. These asides, most water fowl r good swimmers. The web between their toes is one of the reasons for this. When they push one foot back, these webs broaden to provide a better pushing force.Of coz, it isnt a coincidence that all these features required for good swimming exist in... | |
